A low-maintenance, thistle-like perennial requiring only well-drained soil, sun and occasional water. Valued for their long-blooming flowers and striking, gray-woolly foliage, the blossoms also attract bees, butterflies, moths and hummingbirds. Excellent cut and dried flowers. Cut flowers for drying just before the florets open. Wear gloves to protect hands from the prickly leaves.
